Rescue Me ID: 15-03-16-00210Scruffy (male)

Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Scruffy is a Young Chessie/Terrier or Lab/Terrier mix. I can send more photos of his body if you are interested in adopting him, but check out that close up of his cute cute cute fuzz! Scruffy is an amazing dog, who has been so overlooked and forgotten. He has no family, and no place to call home. We are trying to change that for Scruffy! Scruffy was pulled from Rowan County AC right before he was set to be euthanized. This is what his now foster mother has to say about this handsome boy: This beautiful boy is Scruffy. Scruffy came out of Rowan County, NC, and we are fostering him for The Halfway House. He is a Terrier mix of some sort, and ... (Read More)he is 55lbs of puppy love. Scruffy is up-to-date on all his vaccines, is neutered, but is HW postive. We are having him treated and those nasty worms will be dead in another two weeks! He will need some calm time for his body to breakdown the dead worms, but after that he will be raring to love on you. Scruffy wants his people all to himself. He LOVES his people. He would share them with a smaller female dog, but males dogs scare him too much. His life before he came to us has created some anxieties that we are working on with him. Scruffy loves loves loves his walks, and his 'babies'. He will carry a stuffy on his walks when I let him. He loves loves loves to snuggle, and is house-trained. Once Scruffy's heartworm treatments are over and the worms are gone, he would make a great jogging partner. He has a very steady gait and does not sway from the path to sniff and mess around. You can contact either me, Jeneen Houghton, or The Halfway House to meet Scruffy. This boy deserves the best home we can find him, and that's what I have promised him. Are you the family that will love this boy furever? PIease Read Before Adopting a Chesapeake Bay Retriever in North Carolina
Chesapeake Bay Retriever Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever, or Chessie, is a friendly, smart, medium sized breed. Chessies like to have their own way and can be a bit slow to obedience. Owners should be firm authority figures with experience training strong willed dogs. Chessies are wonderful with children. The Chesapeake Bay retriever is more aggressive than other retrievers, especially with other dogs, and needs to be thoroughly socialized. Chessies like to be outside and do well with a decent sized yard or some land.
